Lets get 2012 Started!

It’s about that time to set goals, re-evaluate past goals and take on the new year! We’re not talking about new years resolutions, but real business goals. What are some of your plans for 2012? Here are a few of ours…

Update our Blog: If we practiced what we preached… Our blog would be full of posts documenting the latest projects and clients we’ve worked with over the last few years. You would have known that we moved offices and are now located at 1972 Hillview St. All that is going to change in 2012 (we hope)… We’re now going to find time to blog once a week with the latest of whats going on in both our personal lives and business.

Get Social: Again, we regularly work with clients in setting up their social presence and coaching them how to utilize these avenues. This year we’re going to do as we say… So like us on facebook!

Expand our Multi-Media Division: In early 2011 we partnered with a great videographer Tom Macknight, who recently moved down from Alabama. Take a look at the service we provide at www.XplodeMedia.com and check back for regular updates on how we’re expanding that market.

Blake and I have some big plans for 2012… Outside of growing Xplode Marketing, we have a few personal projects that we’ll be unveiling in the next few months.

Misconceptions of Search Engine Optimization & Google

Too many people are stuck with the mindset that if they buy a domain name, purchase a $150 “do it yourself” website through providers like godaddy that business will all of a sudden knock on the door. Another misconception is one I hear too often… How do I get to the top of Google? If I have a lot of people visit my website, will that make it go to the top?

The only way to get to the top of google is in fact hiring a successful SEO team who has experience and a portfolio of proven customers.  If you’re looking to get more visitors to your website, call us today for a free SEO Proposal.  Most companies don’t show you what they do in order to get to the top of google, but we do.  We know the time and effort it takes to get the job done and we’re more than happy to sit down with you and explain this to you.

People are not going to the yellowpages these days, in fact 77% of people are on the internet searching for businesses via search engines. Is your business on the first page of Google when you type your service or product? Xplode Marketing have been taking their clients and personal businesses to page one of Google for the past 7 years, that’s more than likely how you found us! We build all of our websites with your keywords in mind, there’s two sides of search engine optimization, onsite optimization and offsite optimization. Next week I’ll be exploring Onsite Optimization and some of the key elements of creating a website that shoots to page one of search engines!

If you would like to discuss more, feel free to give the Xplode Marketing offices a call at 941-585-0009! We give free consultations and free quotes!

The importance of creating an identity for yourself and branding your Company.

First let’s start off by defining what exactly branding is: Branding is the perceived emotional feeling and look as a whole.  What does this mean in designing terms?  Well you could describe a ‘brand’ as an organization, service or product with a ‘personality’ that is shaped by the perceptions of the audience.

The key to creating a successful brand and identity is by first defining who your target audience is and by playing off their emotions.   You need to define who you are and what kind of first impression you want to give off.  Keep in mind, your logo or website is going to be seen first, so you want to make sure you capture that potential customers attention within the first 3 seconds.

What are some key aspects on creating an identity?  In most cases, identity design is based around the visual devices used within a company, usually assembled within a set of guidelines. These guidelines that make up an identity usually administer how the identity is applied throughout a variety of mediums, using colors, fonts, layouts, icons and so forth.  These guidelines ensure that the identity of the company is kept coherent, which in turn, allows the brand as a whole, to be recognizable.

On that note, it should also be stated that a designer cannot “make” a brand – only the audience can do this.  A designer forms the foundation of the brand, creates the emotion, but the company and its core values are what really DEFINES the brand.

It is the consistency of this core idea that makes up the company, driving it, showing what it stands for, what it believes in and why they exist. It is not purely some colors, some typefaces, a logo and a slogan.  Although these are required to continue with the emotion, it is simply not the only thing that can define a company.

There is a major element with creating your identity: Keep your identity continuous throughout your entire company.  Your logo, websites, business cards, letterhead, envelopes, email  signatures, make sure they are all the same.  The goal is to be recognized across large audiences whether they’ve used your services or not.  Do not stray from your identity, so make sure when you’re starting your company or redefining your brand, that you do it right the first time and continue with that brand throughout the life of your business.

Here are some examples of companies we’ve worked with who have created not only an identity but also a brand:

Brand New Website & Branding for 2011

Its been way too long since we redesigned or even updated our Xplode Marketing website. It’s like the pool guy that has a green pool, we’ve been busy giving all our attention to our clients and neglecting our own website and portfolio. We made a promise that 2011 would be different and so we sat down with a new business plan. Included in the plan was to give Xplode Marketing a brand new look and feel.

We wanted to showcase some of our illustrative design skills while integrating a corporate look as most of the websites we develop and build typically have a corporate feel. I don’t want to compare our website to a mullet, but the new look was designed with a party towards the top and business at the bottom!

Our goal is to continually update our blog with the latest web trends while keeping you in the loop with all that we’re doing here at Xplode Marketing. Let us know what you think of our new look and brand!
